Physical Testing SOPs

GSM Test SOP

  • Condition specimens to the governing atmosphere
  • Sample left, centre, and right without biased selection
  • Verify cutter area and balance calibration
  • Calculate and report individual, mean, range, and specification deviation
  • Investigate moisture, width, compaction, and finish effects

Dimensional Stability SOP

  • Mark specimens using the specified template and direction
  • Record wash procedure, detergent, ballast, temperature, agitation, and drying
  • Recondition after the required number of cycles
  • Calculate length and width change separately; identify growth clearly
  • Measure spirality, bow, skew, and appearance where applicable

  • Select strip, grab, tongue, or trouser method as specified
  • Cut warp/weft or wale/course specimens without overlapping yarn systems
  • Set gauge length, speed, jaw type, and pretension correctly
  • Report individual force, elongation, failure mode, and average
  • Reject jaw breaks or invalid slippage according to method rules

Seam Strength & Slippage SOP

  • Prepare representative seam, thread, SPI, allowance, and construction
  • Condition specimens and align seam in the tensile tester
  • Apply specified extension or force endpoint
  • Report seam rupture, fabric rupture, stitch failure, or opening width
  • Compare production construction with approved requirement

  • Condition and clean only as the method permits
