Washing & Wet Processing Intelligence: practical industry application
Wet-processing intelligence controls recipe, machine loading, water, chemistry, time, temperature, pH, mechanical action, rinsing, extraction, drying, and finishing to reproduce shade, hand feel, dimensional stability, appearance, and performance safely.
Execution procedure
- Approve a laboratory or sample recipe against the sealed standard, then scale through a controlled pilot before bulk.
- Record garment dry weight, machine, load ratio, water level, chemical lot and dose, time, temperature, pH, RPM/action, sequence, and operator.
- Verify incoming shade, construction, trims, print, embroidery, thread, and interlining compatibility with the process.
- Check wet and dry shade, contrast, abrasion, hand feel, measurements, skew/twist, strength, staining, and accessory damage.
- Segregate nonconforming batches; prohibit unapproved top-up chemistry or rewash until risk and corrective recipe are authorized.
Practical case
- Two denim batches use the same recipe but differ in abrasion. Compare machine loading, garment dry weight, water level, stone/enzyme activity, temperature profile, RPM, and drying—not recipe text alone.
- Run a controlled confirmation batch and lock corrected parameters before resuming bulk.
Operational limits must follow the approved buyer specification, product risk assessment, legal requirements, and calibrated test method. The approved tech pack takes precedence over general guidance.
